How the date moved
- February 2022: Rockstar confirms that work on the next Grand Theft Auto is well under way.
- December 2023: Trailer one lands and the game is announced for 2025.
- May 2025: Rockstar pushes the launch to May 26, 2026.
- November 2025: Rockstar pushes it again to November 19, 2026, asking for extra time to finish the game to the standard players expect.
Two delays in a year made a third one the obvious fear, and 2027 rumours circulated widely through social media. Rockstar has not moved the date since, and the studio has publicly pushed back on the speculation.
What to do until launch
The most useful thing you can do with the wait is learn the map. Leonida is large enough that knowing the regions before you start will save you hours, and most of the coastline is already traceable from official footage.

Frequently asked questions
+When does GTA 6 come out?
GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
+Has GTA 6 been delayed?
Twice. The original window was 2025. In May 2025 Rockstar moved it to May 26, 2026, then in November 2025 it moved again to November 19, 2026, with Rockstar citing extra polish time.
+Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
A PC version has not been dated. Rockstar released GTA 5 on PC about eighteen months after the console launch, and Red Dead Redemption 2 roughly a year after, so a gap of that order is the usual pattern.
+Will GTA 6 come to PS4 or Xbox One?
No. GTA 6 is a current generation release only, which means PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
+Can you preorder GTA 6?
Preorders open through the PlayStation and Xbox stores and major retailers. Rockstar announces the exact opening through its newswire, so treat any earlier listing with caution.
